Christmas Past!

Logan drew this picture of a reindeer for me for Christmas! awe!

Well it's Christmas time again and I decided to post a few pictures of Christmas past.
Oh and of course my cute picture that my son drew for me.
Don't you love that picture of me and Paige. It was at our Ward Christmas party but I am not sure what year. My mind is not what it used to be.

Carlee!

My little Carlee is already eight years old. I can't believe how fast she has grown up. She is my tender heart and is very loving and caring. Sometimes she cries a little on the much side for me but we love her anyway! She was baptised this last last week and she was so brave. I am so proud of her. We all had a great time.
Yah Carlee!

GRANDMA EVA!

My Grandma!

Eva and her sisters that she loved dearly!
Eva is the little one on the end. But I think I look like my Grandma's sister Rose who is next to her. Funny how that works!

This post is dedicated to my late Grandma Eva! She past away on Saturday of natural causes at the age of 97. Eva was a very strong willed woman and always knew her mind. I guess that runs on my side of the family. She lost her husband many years ago, when I was about 7 years old, but she did not let that stop her from living a full life. She traveled a lot with her sister after that and has lived on her own ever since.
I have many fond memories of our early Christmas Eves at her home in Ogden. They would have Santa come and he would always play some Christmas songs on the very beautiful antique piano that she has in her living room.
We will miss you Grandma Eva!

TWILIGHT!!!!!
All I can say is Awesome! THIS IS A DEFINITE VIDEO BUY! OKAY THE BOOK WAS WAYYYYYY BETTER BUT THE BOOK ALWAYS IS! BUT THE MOVIE WAS PRETTY GOOD! ROBERT P GREW ON ME AS EDWARD AND I REALLY LIKE HIM NOW.
BUT I REALLY LIKED JAMES! HE WAS A GOOD SCARY GUY!
THERE WERE A FEW DORKY PARTS IN THE MOVIE THAT I WAS LIKE "DID HE REALLY JUST SAY THAT?" LORI AND I LAUGHED OUR HEADS OFF! BUT AS A WHOLE A GOOD TEEN ROMANCE!
I AM A LITTLE PUT OFF BY THE CRITICS THAT DIDN'T LIKE IT-NOT ENOUGH ACTION OR WHATEVER. I WANTED TO SAY "HAVE YOU EVEN READ THE BOOK DINK?" THE BOOK IS ABOUT EDWARD AND BELLA'S RELATIONSHIP. THAT IS WHAT IT IS- A TEEN ROMANCE MUSHY, GUSHY AND ALL THE REST! CHICK FLICK! ETC ETC ETC
IT MADE OVER 70 MILLION THE FIRST TWO DAYS SO I GUESS WE CAN SAY "FACE" TO THE CRITICS. AND I HEAR THEY ARE GOING TO MAKE A SEQUEL. YEAH! I REALLY LIKE JACOB AND I HOPE HE IS IN MORE OF THE SEQUEL. AND I HOPE THEY HAVE MORE OF EDWARDS FAMILY IN THE SEQUEL. I THINK THE NEXT MOVIES WILL HAVE MORE ACTION IF THEY GO BY THE BOOKS.
IF YOU LIKED THE BOOK YOU HAVE TO SEE THIS!

First Snowfall @ Cabin!

My feet are tired!

Kinzie standing on the pond!

My grown up girls!

The Bennett crowd!
This is our latest trip to our cabin in the Uinta's. This is their first skiff of snow up there and it sure does make everything beautiful! We took a drive down to a pond near our cabin to find that it is completely iced over already. My kids thought that was so cool. They were a little scared at first, except for kinzie my brave soldier, they could not believe that kids used to ice skate all over this stuff years ago. Heck their dad used to drive four wheelers and trucks over ice when he was younger getting a few stuck in the process. It's a wonder he survived his youth. But he was wild and crazy like that!
We had a great time relaxing, playing games, making a gingerbread house, and putting up a Christmas tree. Fun, fun, fun!

Halloween 2008

Logan and Mom @his Kindergarten party!
My Carlee Faye!

Pow! It's Iron Man!

My scary kids!

Shaylee was the spookiest!

So I figured I would post some pics of our very fun Halloween. We had a great time, busy but fun. It seems like it gets harder every year to visit all of the people and go to all of the places that we would like to on Halloween. My kids are getting older and they want to go out with friends and stuff. I guess my Halloween days are about to change.

The kids had a great time dressing up and I helped in Logan's class party (and yes I dressed up, I am cool like that) They had lots of fun and the kids thought a party at school was the greatest.

Shaylee was a zombie this year. She looked so good that Justin didn't know who it was when I showed him a picture. cool! Carlee was a bat and Kinzie was a (guess what) vampire (no surprise there).

We had great fun!

"Wicked"

Okay, I am so excited! In March I get to go to the Broadway Musical "Wicked" at the Gershwin Theatre in New York City. Wahoo!!
We are taking a long awaited "girls only" trip to do things only girls want to do. I have never been on the east coast before and I am very excited to see some sights. I love sightseeing.
Can't wait!

5 Funny Quirks Tag

1. I am not a sympathetic person by nature. Ask my kids. So is it weird that I cry horribly at sad movies and even books. And when I do cry I hate it, it makes me mad at myself for doing it and I hate for people to see me cry. I'm wacko!

2. I love to take baths every night. It calms me. I almost feel cheated if I don't get to soak in my tub at night. Justin also thinks this is weird. He hates to bath and says that he hates to sit in his own filth. Well I guess I am just not filthy.

3. I love little fingers. I have this thing with little baby fingers. I think they are so cute. I drive Logan crazy because I always want him to hold my hand and he thinks he is too big for that now. I guess he is, he's five. But they are cute you have to admit.

4. Justin thinks this is really weird, but when I am reading a book I will get to a funny part and I will laugh out loud. He always looks at me like I am a weirdo and says "How can you laugh like that at a book?" I don't know, I picture the book in my head and when the funny parts come it is just a reaction I guess!

5. I always yawn continually when I am reading books to my kids before bed. Even if I am not tired when I start reading I automatically start yawning about every page or so, it is really weird. And we know that yawning is contagious so by the time I'm done the kids are pretty tired! Bonus!

So these are some funny quirky things about me. I am sure Justin could think of many many more since I am a pretty quirky person. Thanks for the Tag Jeni!
So I tag anyone and every one that reads my Blog. Tell me your quirks.

Our Weekend Fun!

Our Weekend fun!

Here is Justins new favorite toy and a lot of fun it is. We took ride up through the uintahs and had a great time.

This is an old cabin site.

Logan got wet going through the rivers, my sweatshirt was the only thing available so here he is!

Silly kids, don't they know they still have to ride back!

Here's to family fun!

LOVE THIS BAND!

I was listening to the radio the other day and they were reviewing an album by a new band called "Thriving Ivory" and I just love it. The lead singer has a really unique voice and the lyrics are awesome. I love the songs "Angels on the Moon" and "Twilight" so I had to include the address on youtube for you all to have a look for yourself. Let me know what you think.

TIME FOR SALSA!

I guess it's time for salsa making again. I hate to do it, but it is so good! I have a wonderful recipe, it is more like taco sauce. I don't like my salsa chunky so I chop up really good. This is a great recipe that Justin's mom gave me (she is a wonderful cook). If your up to making salsa this is good!
Sandy's Salsa
7 quarts of tomatoes (1/4 bushel)
3 cups chopped yellow onions (about 4 large)
1 1/2 tsp. leaf oregano
4T. cooking oil
2 1/2 T. salt
2 cups chopped green peppers (about 4 or 5)
1/2 T. ground pepper
6 1/2 large garlic buttons (chopped fine)
1 1/2 T. cumin
4 1/2 T. wine vinegar
4 green chillis (cut fine, leave more seeds in depending how hot you want it)
4 yellow chilis (saa)
Boil tomatoes for 2 minutes in a sauce pan with just enough water to cover tomatoes, the core and peel. They should peel pretty easy after they have been in the water, but they will be very hot. Cut tomatoes into large canning pan and add all remaining ingredients. (I use a food processor for all my chopping and it makes it very easy) You can add jalepeno's if you like it really hot. I find it hot enough with the chilis and a little bit of the seeds.
Cook this down on med high to the thickness that you desire. It usually takes me about 6 hours. Make sure you stir occasionally.
Seal in jars. Make sure your jars are very clean and you have new disc lids. After all lids are screwed on cover cottles with water and bath for 15 minutes at a boil.
Set jars out to cool and make sure that you do not touch them at this point so that they can seal properly.
Any that do not seal place in fridge and use with in a few weeks. Or they will keep up to a year or more on the shelf if they seal.
This is a very good recipe but it takes all day. So be prepared!
Happy Eating!

Fun at the Zoo

Here are a few pictures from our fun trip to the Hogle Zoo. The kids had lots of fun. We got to see the Albino Alligator, which is one of ten in the whole world. They also had tiny baby alligator's which were pretty cool. We also got to see lots of really cool birds at the bird show, a baby giraffe, even bats. The kids still like the reptile house the best. Ewwww! That is just gross.
The kids always love to go to the zoo and Logan had been hounding us all summer. They all love animals.
Shaylee would love to be a vet when she grows up. She even caught a water snake this summer and named him Jake. I convinced her to let him go but we see him around the yard sometimes. She catches all kinds of bugs, butterfly's, frogs, grasshoppers, and takes care of the neighbors cats. I had my limit at snakes as you can see.
It was lots of fun!
We can thank Kinzie for the pictures, she's my photographer.
